The realm of Parathas.
Parathas is naturally divided into two governing regions by a large mountainous expanse which dominates the center of the continent. The region on the west side of the mountains is called the Telberen States, it is mostly made up with city-states which have relative control over other small towns and regions. Because of the city states, the Telberen government which is situated in the iron city-state of Gilead, has little control over the region in its entirety. The region on the east side of the mountain range is known as Andrius kingdom. In the capital city, Florenze, King Mikaeus II reigns in power over the lands. The Andrius Kingdom has a feudalism system set in place, the nation is governed by the king and his nobles.
The Telberen States are a system of city-states, while technically, it’s capital resides in the Iron-city of Gilead, the other city-states govern themselves, often paying no heed to the capital. Many years ago, the nation was in a similar feudal-monarchy system as the Andrius Kingdoms. However, the cities began to grow in power, parliaments sprung up all around the nation seeking to usurp the powers of the king. There was a bloody revolution, and in the end, Gilead was left by itself to fight off the armies of the remaining country. The citizens of Gilead eventually turned the king and his family over to the rebels in order to resolve the threat to their capital. The king was executed, and it was declared that no one man would rule over Telberen ever again. There was now a problem though, numerous parliaments, who all spoke of different visions and beliefs for the nation. After many months it was decided, there would be one representative from each parliament to come forth to a council in Gilead, this would serve as a national group to determine policies which affected the entirety of the nation. However, the individual parliaments would return to their cities with the power to govern laws, military, and other such things, creating a city-state law with a sort of national council which had very little authority. Telberen was now officially known as the Telberen States.
