Gilead: Primarily Humans. While Gilead is technically the capital of the Telberen States, most of the city-states do not truly honor this. Named the Iron City because of its massive iron walls which surround it, Gilead rules itself by separate means than that of the National Council. The leader of the Iron Bulwark, a guard-force which is hired all over the Telberen States, is the governor of Gilead. His name is Lord Mathias Helmshand. Gilead is known for their military, and for the Iron Bulwark, primarily because of their mysterious firearms. These ranged deathbringers are more than enough to turn the tables on the battlefield, and as such, most city-states avoid inciting war with the Iron City.
Arbin: Primarily Elves and Half-elves. This city, situated by the Evenwald, is very racist toward those seen as inferior to elves, which are most other races. The city is known for it’s talented spellcasters, and for it’s prestigious magic academy. Ruled by the elven Archmage Zultiras Nightshand, this city strives for excellence in all affairs, and is infamous for exiling or executing those who are deemed unworthy to live behind its walls.
Dar’uk: Mixed races. This city-state is famous for its multiculturalism. From gnomes to orcs, and more recently, the infamous drow are found behind these walls. The city stands for equality of all races in all states of Telberen, they will never extradite people who have been outlawed in cities for their race, such as Orcs and Drow. Their government consists of a council with representatives of every race which resides in the city. Due to its multiculturalism, the city has a wide variety of skills and makes for a formidable opponent, or a cherished ally.
Serenas: Elves, Humans, and Half-elves. This is an example of a city-state which has expanded due to peaceful terms. The small hamlet of Elbrook offered itself to the city-state of Serenas many years back because of it’s fear of being conquered and the people being harmed. Serenas agreed to protect the hamlet. It imposes a tax of sold goods over Elbrook, and also conscripts militants from the hamlet occasionally. Serenas is a known exporter of lumber, fish, game, and furs to most of the nation. They are a peaceful lot, very much tied in with the belief in stewardship of nature. Serenas is governed by an elf druid by the name of Tarius Wildheart.
Hammerfast: The Dwarvern City-State built from the mountains itself. This city is governed by Lord Orik Mithrim, he is the rightful heir to the throne of dwarves, however out of respect for the Telberen States, he simply declares himself a lord of a city-state. Hammerfast is a large exporter of ores, metals, weapons, gems, and other crafts. The dwarves are very superstitious and as such avoid connections with magical oriented cities, such as Arbin.
